  • BITE BUTTER CREAM LIPSTICK

    April 30th, 2015

The company BITE makes the most fabulous lip products ever. I have already talked about them before, but their products are all made with natural food grade products, and are made with fruit pigments instead of chemical dyes. Who wouldn’t want that!

They came out with a range of new lipsticks called Butter Cream lipsticks. This new formula has a straight edge top, which is supposed to deliver a more opaque finish. The result is also supposed to give you a more creamier texture.

I personally found the formula to last a tad longer than the original luminous creme lipsticks, but the overall they are pretty much the same. The Butter cream lipsticks retail for $28. The colors in this line are very in tune with spring and summer and are more along the lines of nude colors.

I picked up the color Marzipan.. which is a chocolate brown color with a hint of pink. Just a hint, on my lips that is.

Would I recommend them? Yes. There are more nudes suitable for every skin type in this range. And, you can never go wrong with BITE.

  • WHAT’S ON YOUR LIST?

    April 13th, 2015

Sephora does a bi-yearly sale.. and now is one of them. You get 15% off of everything that buy. It started yesterday, and goes on till the 21st.

Its, definitely a good time to stock up on those goodies that are staples.. or if you just wanted to try something a little more high end, but didn’t want to shell out the extra bucks.

There are so many new things out there right now.. so what’s on your list?

I have a couple things that I might want to pick up so check ’em out!

    Caudalie Divine Oil

I love Phyto hair products and they formulate them with some amazing ingredients! And, hair oils are something I have been wanting to test out.. so good opportunity to try them out!

Last but not least, this colorful looking palette from Too faced seems fun. I am definitely the natural shadows kinda gal, but I really would like to try out some things with some fun colors. And, this is has received plenty of great reviews.

  • HOURGLASS RADIANT BRONZE LIGHT AMBIENT LIGHTING BRONZER

    April 9th, 2015

If you already an avid user of Hourglass’ Ambient lighting powders, then you will know exactly why someone would get excited over their new bronzers!

I hunted this baby down at my local Sephora and managed to grab it before it hit the shelves. Didn’t bother waiting for the VIB Rouge sale, as I knew they would fly off the shelves. Needless to say, I am a happy camper.

The main thing that draws people to these products is that the powder is finely milled, and the shimmer just gives your skin that health glow without enlarging your pores or making you look like a disco ball. I LOVE the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, so I was pretty excited about this bronzer, even though I am tan already. But this bronzer just makes my skin look dewy, and glowy. I could actually use this product as a warm highlighter for my skin tone.

I picked up the radiant shade which is suited for medium/deep skins and they have one more shade called Luminous light which is for fairer skins. They combined a bronzer color with one of the ambient lighting powders to give the skin an extra oomph! The pigmentation is amazing.. and the great thing about these is, you just cannot go overboard. I personally like to use a fan brush to apply the product so you can layer if necessary without it looking cakey.

This product retails at $50 and contains .39 0z of product which is actually more than their regular powders.. hence the $5 dollars extra.

I would recommend these to anyone. Hourglass does a phenomenal job with their highlighters and I would gladly throw out the rest of mine and just splurge on a few of these.

  • ThE SEXY NEUTRALS

    April 8th, 2015

One can never go wrong with neutral eyeshadows. Trust me. And, if you love your eyeshadows as much as I do, I am pretty sure you would already have a ton of neutral palettes in your stash.

Bare Minerals are known for their READY eyeshadows. They are soft, bendable, and long-lasting. All while containing skin-invigorating ingredients such as cold-pressed borage oil, and sea nutrients. In a nut shell- no harmful chemical binders that a lot of companies use today.

Bare minerals offer their READY colors in 2-pan, 4-pans, and 8-pan eyeshadow palettes.

They added 2 more 8 pan eyeshadow palettes along with their already existing palette called The Posh Neutrals.

I picked up this one called The Sexy Neutrals as the colors were more appealing with some rose golds, champagne highlights, copper tones, and a great dark, defining shade.

This retails for $40 for 8 eyeshadows. Granted these are a bit smaller than the ones you get in a duo or a quad. But, you get a nice variety of colors.

Use a good eye primer and the shadows will stay. Just remember these are not going to be as pigmented as Urban Decay’s or Nars eyeshadows as they do not contain any binders or fillers of any sort.

Take a look! Overall, I would definitely recommend this little baby!

  • Harmful chemicals you ask?

    October 21st, 2014

    Hi there everyone!

There are many, many harmful ingredients in the products we use for our body and hair and most of them we can’t even pronounce. A lot of the synthetic compounds found in cosmetics and personal-care products are being linked to carcinogenic contamination and hormonal interference. This in turn affects our reproductive and developmental health. Today, I wanted to focus mainly on the harmful chemicals found in body and hair products first. Typically we use these products everyday compared to makeup or other facial products.

    1) Triclosan and Triclocarban: These are antimicrobial compounds that are typically found in soaps of all kinds. Triclosan has been linked to disrupt the thyroid function and reproductive hormones and the overuse of this chemical may result in the development of bacterial resistance.

    2) Oxybenzone: This is a sunscreen agent and absorbs ultraviolet-light. It causes irritation and allergies and many studies have indicated that its metabolites may disrupt hormonal systems.

    3) Formaldehyde releasers: This ingredient is made up of a group of cosmetic preservatives. It basically is a carcinogen when mixed with water.

    4) Microbeads: These are tiny pieces of plastic that are mainly used as exfoliants and often they are so small that they get filtered through the wastewater and end up in lakes and rivers. Hence, the fish end up eating them. So they absorb a lot of these harmful chemicals as well.

    5) Parabens ( propyl, isopropyl, butyl, and isobutyl): Parabens are basically preservatives that are used in cosmetics and fragrances. The FDA has already said that they have been shown to mimic estrogen. I had once been to an Endocrinologist and she had said the exact same thing. Many times we use hair product and don’t wash our hands. The chemicals are constantly being absorbed by our bodies. But, many companies nowadays are reformulating their products to not include parabens. So this ingredient has become easy to avoid overall.

    6) Unspecified fragrance: A lot of times, companies do not individually its the ingredients that add scent to their products. These unspecified fragrances contain phthalates. This is known to be a family of plasticizers and has been shown to affect our reproductive health and cause reproductive and developmental disorders.

    7) Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Ceteareth compounds: These are conditioning and cleaning agents are considered as a probable human carcinogen.

    8) Vitamin A compounds for daytime products (anything with retinal, retinol, etc.): This is a skin conditioning agent used in sunscreens, lotions, face moisturizers, etc. They break down sunlight and produce toxic free radicals which can damage the DNA in our body and which in turn can develop into skin lesions and various tumors.

I really do hope this post helps! We absorb a lot of chemicals into our bodies without knowing the side effects of these ingredients. It might seem as though we do not use a huge amount of these products with chemicals, but if we use them everyday just imagine how much our body and skin has been absorbing.

Take a moment to think about this!

  • Sephora Gift of Beauty Brush Set

    June 24th, 2014

    Hey Lovlies!

Lately I have bin on a bit of a brush binge. No joke, since like February!

Sometime at the end of April, I picked up this 5 piece brush set from Sephora at $42. Sephora always has amazing value packed into their brush sets, and the reason I particularly went for this one is because all of the brushes are made up of Synthetic Fibers.

The one on the left is a flat top foundation brush, and it comes with a flat edge liner brush, shadow brush, a large all over shadow brush, and a crease brush. Overall, I am extremely happy with the quality of ALL of the brushes. You simply can’t go wrong. This brush set was available on Sephora.com till about a couple days ago, but they took it off :/ I am pretty sure if you called your local store you might be able to find one of these sets!

  • New TARTE LIPSUrGENCE LIPGLOSSES

    June 24th, 2014

    New TARTE LIPSUrGENCE LIPGLOSSES.

  • New TARTE LIPSUrGENCE LIPGLOSSES

    June 24th, 2014

    Hello Everyone!DSC_0006

I am a big fan of the company Tarte! So whenever they release something new, there is a good chance that I will pick up the products.

Along with their summer collection, they released their new LipSurgence Lipglosses.

I picked up 3 in the shades Tipsy (A nice coral), Exposed( A rose nude) and blushing bride (A dark mauve/plum color). I really like the consistency of the glosses as they are just mildly sticky and not too crazy. They smell like vanilla peppermint and they feel really comfortable on the lips!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have more pigmented lips. So all of these shades pretty much ended up looking the same on my lips. ;/ I think that if they were any darker, pigmented colors, they would show up better.

That being said, I think if you have more neutral colored lips they will show up perfectly. I really do like layering these colors on top of my lipsticks!

The packaging, is not something to write home about. I think that Buxom does lip glosses that are a dollaDSC_0008r cheaper and their packaging definitely feels more luxurious.

I am just not a huge gloss person, but if you are I would definitely recommend these! They have a wide range of colors available, and I believe they can be found as a part of Tarte’s permanent line at Sephora, Ulta, and tartecosmetics.com at $19.

  • BITE LUMINOUS CREME LIPSTICK-SHIRAZ

    June 24th, 2014

Hi Everyone! Sorry to have dropped off the radar there for a while, but.. I am back with a new post! So, a lot of people have gone on and on about this brand called BITE. They are exclusive to Sephora and they make only lip products. The best part is that they only use natural food grade ingredients in their products which they claim are safe to eat. not that we would ever do that right? 😉 Anyways, I hopped on the bandwagon and bought one of their lovely lipsticks in the shade called Shiraz. Let me tell you folks, I have discovered my HG color right here. This shade is really a plum shade.. and it looks pinkish plum on my darker lips. But, it also looks very, very natural on me. The formula is very moisturizing and feels extremely comfortable. So it is not matte, nor is it shiny, but it has a very luminous finish. So, the one gripe is that the staying power is not that great, but it is not a matte lipstick so I cannot really complain too much about it. I get about 4-5 hours without touchups! The packaging to me is the best part. It has a rubberized finish, and the tube is so sleek. These babies retail at $24 and I think are pretty worth it, considering you are putting only goodingredients on your lips. With that being said, I would definitely repurchase.DSC_0022

  • Urban Decay Super Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner + Perversion Angled Brush

    April 16th, 2014

    Hi there!

Things have been a little crazy, hence the reason why my posts have been a bit irregular. But, i was able to get my hands on some new products and test them out during this time!

So as a part of their summer collection, Urban Decay released a cream eyeliner- free of parabens, etc. Naturally being the black gel eyeliner enthusiast that I am, I had to get this one immediately.

I also ordered the brush that they say should be used with the cream eyeliner.

Now, when swatched on the hand, this eyeliner looks extremely pigmented! But, overall I am not blown away by this product or anything. It has a very matte finish and when applied to my lid, it does not appear as pigmented as it does in the pot :/.  The staying power is good though and lasts about 10-12 hours with a primer.

The bristles on the brush are really thick for an angled brush, and i had a hard time applying a thin line near the inner corner of my eye.

Overall, I like my Tarte one better and will not repurchase this one.ImageImageImageImage
