  • BARE MINERALS TRUE ROMANTIC QUAD

    March 14th, 2014

    Hey Everyone!

Today I am back with a review of a new eyeshadow quad a picked up from Bare Minerals a couple of weeks ago. This is a limited edition quad that is part of their collection for the Spring. Image

The first two shades on the left have a little bit of fallout. The other two are richly pigmented and have amazing payoff. So they do not follow the regular quality of Bare Minerals pressed shadows, but they are still good quality. Together, the shadows look beautiful.

These shadows are absolutely beautiful, and are pretty much in tune with the rose gold trend for Spring. The packaging itself is made up of a rose gold compact. It is susceptible to fingerprints but that’s pretty much unavoidable. The mint color is great color for the brow bone and the inner corner. The pink color is a good all over the lid color and the bronze can be applied right in the middle of the lid. I use the darkest color for a bit of definition on the outer V and to smudge along the lower lash line.

This quad retails for $30. Overall, I think this is a keeper as the colors are different and still provide a pretty natural look 🙂

  • REN Rosa Centifolia No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm

    March 3rd, 2014

    Hey Everyone!

I have a new skincare discovery that really has changed things around for me!

Over the past year I have been hearing about classing balms all over the blog world and from beauty gurus. Unfortunately, cleansing balms have become really popular in the UK. But, Sephora carries one cleansing balm that has become extremely popular over the last couple of months.

I got a whole bunch of samples from Sephora before I bit the bullet and bought as it comes with a hefty price tag at $48 for a 5.1oz tub. I think it is totally worth it though. The UK has a lot of cleansing balms available for cheaper but, by the time you add shipping costs and tax it pretty much adds up to what you would pay here for the one by REN.

So what is a cleansing balm? It has a vaseline-y texture that you use on dry skin; it’s the first step to washing your face. You massage a little bit of this onto your skin and really massage it in so you remove all the dirt, grime, makeup, etc. Then you add water to emulsify it and to remove the residue. Afterwards, you remove the remaining residue off with a muslin cloth- and let me tell you it removes every inch of dirt you have. If you wear makeup though, I thoroughly recommend double cleansing even after using this.  The smell is amazing, and literally feels as though you are getting a facial done.

I would definitely repurchase this, as it has definitely changed the way my skin looks and feels- now it is more dewy and brighter, with less breakouts due to the thorough removal of dirt and makeup.

  • Basic Eye Brushes one should have!

    February 20th, 2014

    Hey Everyone!

So today’s post is kind of important. Why? Well..up until a couple of months ago, I wasn’t really the eyeshadow kinda gal. I just thought that it really didn’t matter that much. But, one day BAM it hit, and now I can’t get enough of eyeshadow colors. Don’t get me wrong, I had a ton of loose shadows from bareMinerals from before, but I just never used them. So now I am trying to expand my collection-not too much though!

After getting into wearing eyeshadow, I realized having good eye brushes is EXTREMELY essential to how the look comes out. If you are one of those people that uses the brushes that come in the palettes- you need to chuck ’em out.

I started collecting some from Sephora, Real Techniques, and a new brand I discovered called Bdellium Tools. I think I now pretty much have all the basic tools one needs to achieve a good eye look. Image

Bdellium Tools is a new brand that I discovered while shopping for synthetic brushes. I have sensitive skin, and it didn’t really feel right knowing that some brushes are made out of pony and horse hair. Bdellium Tools sell their stuff at IMATS and you can easily purchase their stuff off of iherb.com, amazon, or bdelliumtools.com

  • TARTE CC Matte Palette

    February 7th, 2014

    Hey Everyone,

As you might have heard, Tarte came out with their Spring collection at the beginning of this month, and a big trend in their new products is an ingredient called Colored Clay. They launched a new Matte palette in line with this whole CC theme. This palette includes 6 matte eyeshadows, one limited edition blush, and 2 liner/shadows, and one little two-sided brush. It retails for $35 and can be found at Sephora, Sephora.com, Ulta, Ulta.com,  Tarte.com and QVC.com

    .

As always, the packaging is so cute! I think this palette is really a good size, and great for traveling.
As you can see the shadows are really good pinky/purpley neutral colors. I think they work on a variety of skin tones, and are good for everyday looks. The shadows are very silky and smooth to the touch. The pay-off is good too, while darker skin tones might have a hard time with it but, overall I think its a keeper. Everyone should have a good Matte palette in their collection, and if you don’t have one I think you should grab up. The brown/black shadows aren’t really like regular eyeshadows, and I think they have a thicker texture. So, I would call this more of a liner/shadow. I used the brown color for my brows and the black for my lash line. The blush- ahhhmazing! I am a Tarte blush junkie, so naturally I would want a new limited-edition blush. I have tan skin so I thought this color might not show up well, but I have to say it gives me the most natural glow ever. The color is a good nude-pink shade. You can’t go wrong at all. The double ended brush is made out of good quality and definitely good for touch-ups if you are traveling. However, I would not use it to apply a full on eye look. I like the handles to be longer while applying my eyeshadows.
I am playing around with a new DSLR camera, so I apologize for the the angle/lighting on the swatches. If you look closely you can see the blush all the way to the left. The name of the blush is called Elevated and if you go clockwise, the shadow names are the following: sand out from the crowd (base), peach for the stars (lid), two plums up (outer corner), pink outside the box (lid), rose to the occasion (crease), view from the taupe (crease), dream in chocolate (liner), don’t stand back (liner).
Again I apologize for the swatches, but I am still new to displaying colors and stuff.
For reference, I have tan skin- and the shadows still show up on my lids. They are meant to have a soft look so don’t be alarmed if the colors don’t jump right at ya. I think this would be great for all skin tones, but the deeper skin tones might want to swatch it out just to make sure the colors show up and don’t look ashy. But, overall, I think this is worth the $36.
    Hope this helps!
